We writers hey, our own worst enemy. It will pass I say to myself, just keep writing. I have a medieval manuscript I have been adding to for a couple of years, I adore it but doubt it will ever see the light of day. Yet I still go back to it... You have successes, Cate, and I am sure you will have many more. G. 📚
Thank you, Gretchen, and, yes, I think it is the curse of the creative to be able to imagine the worst at times! I know I've been feeling low lately and that it will pass. As you say - just keep writing! Here's to our medieval manuscripts!
Great tips Cate. They reverberate. I’m sorry you’ve been under the weather Cate. May the wind fill your sails again soon. I often toy with the idea of writing cosy murder mysteries too. I’ve been rewatching ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ and slowly working my way through ‘The Creative Act:A Way of Being’ by Rick Ruben, taking notes as I go.
Thank you! I was hesitant about watching the new All Creatures Great and Small because I totally adored the old series (and devoured the books as a teenager), but have decided they 'done good'. I'll have to check out The Creative Act - it sounds interesting.
So sorry to hear you’ve been unwell Cate. Hang in there, I know you’ve got more beautiful work up your sleeve or your pocket protector at least.
I love your reading voice too. Sometimes I struggle through Substacks because I’m usually reading in my phone while having breakfast, so listening to your rhythmic and melodic voice was a treat.
Thank you - on both counts! And I'm so glad you find my audio useful as well as 'rhythmic and melodic' (heart). I was wondering if I should continue reading or not (I struggle with the tech sometimes!) but I'll keep going (the tech will not beat me!) xxx
